Cotton Compliments

I am now running an online store selling The World's Most Comfortable Pants on

The pants and shorts are all handmade in Thailand by people getting fair wages. 5% of all profits are going to a charity operating in Thailand called Khom Loy Development Foundation.

Here's the information from our About Us page:

Cotton Compliments
Home of the World's Most Comfortable Pants

Who are we?
We at Cotton Compliments strive to be your online source of the World's Most Comfortable Pants. We know you want comfort, and you don't want to wait for it to come all the way from Thailand. We're here to help you get high quality, handcrafted pants, and get them to you fast!

The World’s Most Comfortable Pants are handmade in Northern Thailand by artisans working near or in their homes. Our suppliers followFair Trade principles and are based far from the sweatshops that plague Bangkok. To demonstrate our concern for the well-being of these workers and those around them, we donate 5% of all profits to Khom Loy Development Foundation which works with poverty-stricken minorities and children in Northern Thailand. By buying the World’s Most Comfortable Pants, you are supporting villagers in rural Thailand by spreading their crafts around the world, while also contributing to the improvement of their home region and betterment of their lives and children's futures. Plus, you get to wear the most comfortable pants you will ever wear. Ever.

So what’s up with the name Cotton Compliments?
Well, we’re hoping you’ll get some compliments for wearing them. We want our name to reflect our philosophy here; we want to spread a charitable and positive attitude, and we want you to do the same. Whenever you’re enjoying The World’s Most Comfortable Pants, remember where you got them and brighten someone’s day with a thoughtful compliment. There’s a bit of wordplay involved as well, since we hope our product will complement your lifestyle.

Most importantly, though, we at Cotton Compliments realized the best way we could show our appreciation to our artisans and compliment their hard work is to donate money back into their society to brighten their future and the future of their children. We are partnering with Khom Loy Development Foundation (check out the links in the menu on the left) to do just that.

All of these things come together to bring you Cotton Compliments.

For a long time, I had my short story "Dreams" on here.
I took it down and have started selling it on for Kindle. You can read it on a kindle, iPod touch, iPad, or any Android phone or Tablet , Windows Phone or even your PC or Mac with a free program available straight from Amazon. The book has undergone a title change from "Dreams" to the much more interesting "Parasomnia," along with a few minor changes and edits that differ from the version that was on here until yesterday.

I just love the feeling of a brand new eraser on a brand new mechanical pencil. It removes mistakes without leaving a trace. No smudges, smears or messes. It's beautiful. Nobody will know I messed up.

Truly, the simplest things in life are the most delightful.

Great Feeling

It feels so good when you text precisely what you want to say in exactly the way you want to say it and then when you check to see how long it is you hit exactly 160 characters.

Woman Pours Milk

I felt like doing it again.
Here we have a scene that's common in most modern American households, as depicted by Vermeer.

I really like playing piano a lot. I've got a bunch of books of rock music. I'm pretty good at them. It's a lot of fun to play. I like to play for people. It's fun to have people sing along with you. I started to feel confident about my playing abilities.

Then, yesterday I found I had a book of Classical Masterpieces.

Humbling experience.

Great ideas

You know how sometimes you have ideas that seem absolutely genius? Then you think about them a half-second longer and you realize it's an awful idea? I just did that.

Chicken sashimi.

Woman in Blue Reading a Text

Monday, November 28, 2011

I hope my epitaph says this:

I guess there's no climbing the social ladder if you're born legendary.

When people say they like asparagus, what they really mean is, "I like butter and salt, even on asparagus."

One last post.

Every time I see the letters "GLBT" I think it's some fancy variety of the classic BLT. Maybe they added guacamole. I don't know. But whenever I see it, I have to think twice about its meaning.

That is a BLTG not a GLBT.

I am going away for 2 years starting June 21st 2009.

I am going on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Honolulu Hawaii.

I am not sure I will post anything between now and June 24th 2011 (when I return) so, this might be farewell.

I hope Scott will post a few times to keep this place alive. He's in China right now, though. We'll see.

Thank you for reading and spending time here.

Apples to oranges

Comparing apples

to oranges

really shouldn't be taboo.
They're actually pretty similar.
Can make juice out of them
Grow on trees
Are picked by people on ladders.

See? They are actually very much alike. I don't know why the expression "that's like comparing comparing apples to oranges" is used when someone talks about putting dissimilar items in the same category.

Instead of simply complaining about a problem in the universe, I will offer several solutions:

"That's like comparing apples

"That's like comparing apples

piles of books."

"That's like comparing apples

70s rock bands."

"That's like comparing apples

video game consoles from the 1990s."

There are countless other items that are much more dissimilar from apples than oranges.
Whoever picked oranges as the contrast to apples is a fool.

I just thought that this was deliciously ironic, and I had to share.

Lazy vs. Efficient's first definition of "efficient:"

performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort; having and using requisite knowledge, skill, and industry; competent; capable."

It is interesting to note that with minor alterations, I can produce a definition for "lazy."

performing or functioning in a good-enough manner with the least waste of time and effort; having and using a good-enough amount of knowledge, skill, and industry; competent enough; capable enough."
